NWS Baltimore/Washington (LWX, discussion 9:33 AM, outlook 4:01 PM) has nothing hazardous on the board for Maryland tonight, and NWS Mount Holly (PHI, 4:22 PM) is only watching a few passing showers for Sunday morning on the Eastern Shore, plus a minor coastal tide issue that stays south of us in Delaware. There is no active watch, warning, or advisory anywhere in Maryland as of this writing.
Tonight’s Timeline
The morning’s line of showers and storms that raced into Garrett County ahead of schedule is still working through the far western mountains this evening and into the night, with the grid there still carrying a solid chance of lingering showers and storms before things taper and clear later on. Elsewhere, activity is losing steam as it slides south and east, and for the rest of the state tonight is dry. Skies clear out west to north through the evening, with high clouds lingering a bit longer over the Baltimore-DC corridor and Eastern Shore before thinning out after midnight. Winds stay light out of the north to northeast, ushering in noticeably drier air. By early Sunday morning, dewpoints will have dropped enough that you’ll actually notice the difference stepping outside — this is the payoff after a sticky stretch.
Western Maryland
Garrett County (Deep Creek/Oakland): Showers and thunderstorms remain likely tonight (72% per the grid) before clouds gradually break later on, low near 55°. Winds light out of the northeast. This is the one corner of the state still dealing with wet weather tonight — hold off on outdoor plans up in the high country until later.
Allegany County (Cumberland): Scattered showers and storms possible early tonight before clearing, low around 59°, winds light from the north. Skies trend mostly cloudy overnight before improving.
Northern & Central Maryland
Washington County (Hagerstown): Isolated shower chance early (15%), otherwise partly clearing, low around 61°, light north winds.
Frederick & Carroll Counties: Partly cloudy early, then clearing, low around 62°, winds light out of the northeast. Only a slight (13%) shower chance right at the start of the night.
Baltimore Metro
Baltimore City & County, Harford, Howard, Anne Arundel: Mostly clear tonight, low around 66°, light north winds around 5 mph. Essentially rain-free — just 1% precip chance in the gridpoint data.
DC Suburbs
Montgomery & Prince George’s Counties: Partly cloudy skies tonight, low around 65°, northeast winds near 6 mph, only a slim 7% shower chance. A calm, comfortable night for the corridor.
Southern Maryland
Charles, Calvert, St. Mary’s Counties: Partly cloudy tonight with a low around 67° at the Prince Frederick gridpoint, winds light out of the northeast near 5 mph. Precip chances stay minimal (around 9%), so any lingering clouds should be more decorative than disruptive. Patchy fog is possible toward dawn as temperatures settle into the 60s under calm winds — worth a heads-up if you’re out early along the river towns.
Upper Eastern Shore
Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Caroline Counties: Mostly clear tonight, low around 63° per the Easton gridpoint, light northeast winds. Precip essentially a non-issue tonight (1%), though PHI’s Sunday morning shower chances (20-35%) will start to nudge in from the north as the night wears on.
Lower Eastern Shore
Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset Counties: Partly cloudy, low around 65° at the Salisbury gridpoint, northeast winds light. An 8% shower chance tonight ticks up toward morning as those PHI-tracked showers drift south across Delmarva.
Ocean City & the Coast
Worcester County: Mostly clear tonight, low around 69°, northeast winds near 7 mph. A moderate rip current risk kicks in Sunday morning per NWS Wakefield’s surf forecast, with surf running 1 to 3 feet and water temps around 80°. Sunday’s high tide at the Ocean City Fishing Pier is around 4:12 PM, low tide around 9:31 AM — worth noting given the separate coastal flood advisory PHI issued for Delaware beaches just north of us (not a Maryland impact, but close enough to mention).
Active Hazards
None. There are no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect for any part of Maryland as of this writing. The only coastal flood advisory noted by PHI applies to New Jersey and Delaware locations, not Maryland. The Severe Thunderstorm Watch mentioned by NWS Wakefield covers northeastern North Carolina, well south and clear of Maryland.

The severe threat that clipped far western Maryland this morning has moved on and weakened, though showers and a rumble of thunder can still linger over Garrett County into tonight before things clear. LWX notes any broader severe potential today was focused well south and west of the state. No flooding concerns are in play for Maryland tonight.

Humidity is on its way down statewide as drier air filters in behind the front — a welcome change after a sticky stretch. Winds stay light and manageable across the state tonight, generally out of the north to northeast at 5 to 10 mph, with little in the way of gusts to worry about.

Sunday looks great across the state — mostly sunny, low humidity, highs mostly in the low 80s inland (upper 70s at the coast), with just a slight shower chance sliding into the Eastern Shore and Ocean City later in the day (around 10-17%). Labor Day looks even drier and comfortable, with highs again in the upper 70s to low 80s across most of the state. Tuesday brings a slow warm-up as high pressure shifts south, with highs climbing into the mid 80s inland.
