NWS Baltimore/Washington (issued 3:33 PM) and NWS Mount Holly (issued 5:17 PM) both flag a low-overcast, moisture-laden night setting the stage for widespread showers — and a few possible rumbles of thunder — arriving Sunday. Meanwhile, Anne Arundel County is under a Coastal Flood Advisory tonight into early Sunday as onshore flow piles up water along the Bay shoreline.

- Early evening: Mostly clear to partly cloudy statewide — a pleasant, comfortable finish to Saturday.
- Late evening (9–11 PM): Low clouds and overcast conditions build in from the south/southeast as onshore flow deepens; humidity creeps up.
- Overnight (midnight–5 AM): Skies go mostly cloudy to overcast area-wide. Far western Maryland (Garrett/Allegany) sees the first showers try to develop after midnight as a warm front lifts north.
- Daybreak Sunday: Showers spread into western Maryland and begin tracking southeast across the state through the morning.
Western Maryland
Garrett County (Deep Creek/Oakland): Tonight, mild and increasingly unsettled — low near 62°, wind light out of the south around 7 mph, and shower/thunderstorm chances climbing to near 47% as the night wears on. This is the first county to see rain arrive, likely toward early Sunday morning. Grab an umbrella for any lakeside plans that start early.
Allegany County (Cumberland): Low around 65°, southeast wind near 6 mph, with shower chances near 47% overnight — mostly a late-night/pre-dawn Sunday concern. Skies turn increasingly cloudy through the evening.
Northern & Central Maryland
Washington County (Hagerstown): Low near 66°, southeast wind 6–12 mph. Rain chances tonight sit around 34%, mainly toward the pre-dawn hours as the warm front noses in.
Frederick County: Low around 67°, wind southeast 5–9 mph. Mostly cloudy skies tonight with only a slight chance of showers (24%) before daybreak — the better rain arrives later Sunday morning.
Carroll County: Sharing Frederick’s grid — low near 67°, same slight (24%) overnight shower chance under thickening cloud cover.
Baltimore Metro
Baltimore City & County: Low around 70°, southeast wind near 9 mph. Mostly cloudy tonight with just a slight chance of a late shower (20%) — most of the metro stays dry overnight, saving the real rain for Sunday.
Harford County: Tracking with the Baltimore grid — low near 70°, mostly cloudy, low-end (near 20%) shower chance overnight.
Howard County: Same low around 70° with mostly cloudy skies; any shower activity holds off until Sunday.
Anne Arundel County: Low near 70°, mostly cloudy — and this is the county under the Coastal Flood Advisory tonight (9 PM to 5 AM Sunday). Onshore southeast flow is pushing water levels up along the Bay shoreline; expect minor tidal flooding around high tide overnight, especially in low-lying, flood-prone spots (think shoreline roads, docks, and low parking areas near the water). Nothing severe, but plan around it if you’re near the water after dark.
DC Suburbs
Montgomery County (Silver Spring area): Low around 67°, southeast wind near 8 mph. Mostly cloudy and dry tonight — only an 11% shower chance, so most of the metro fringe stays quiet until Sunday’s system arrives.
Prince George’s County: Tracking the same grid — low near 67°, mostly cloudy, low overnight rain chance. A calm, muggy night before Sunday’s action.
Southern Maryland
Charles, Calvert & St. Mary’s Counties: Low near 68°, wind southeast 6–9 mph, mostly cloudy skies. Rain chances are lowest here tonight (around 10%) — Southern Maryland gets a comfortable, largely dry evening before Sunday’s showers roll through in the afternoon.
Upper Eastern Shore
Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot & Caroline Counties: Low near 65° around the Easton gridpoint, southeast wind around 5 mph, mostly cloudy. Only a 5% shower chance tonight — a quiet, humid night on the upper Shore ahead of a wetter Sunday night.
Lower Eastern Shore
Dorchester, Wicomico & Somerset Counties: Low near 66° per the Salisbury grid, east wind 5–8 mph, partly cloudy — the driest corner of the state tonight at just a 6% shower chance. Enjoy it; more clouds and showers build in by Monday.
Ocean City & the Coast
Worcester County: low near 69°, east wind around 13 mph, partly cloudy with only a 5% shower chance overnight — a calm, mild coastal night. Moderate rip current risk remains in effect through Sunday evening per NWS Wakefield’s surf zone forecast. Sunday’s surf runs 2 to 3 feet with sunny skies, a high near 78°, and southeast winds 10–15 mph. Ocean City Fishing Pier tides Sunday: low 8:54 AM, high 3:36 PM. Swimmers should stay alert for rip currents even with modest surf — moderate risk means they can still pull you out fast.

- Coastal Flood Advisory — Anne Arundel County (MDZ014), 9 PM tonight to 5 AM Sunday. Minor tidal flooding possible at high tide due to onshore flow; low-lying shoreline areas most affected.
- Small Craft Advisory — Maryland tidal waters/Chesapeake Bay zones (ANZ534, 537, 543) until 1 AM Sunday. Boaters should expect building winds and choppy conditions on the Bay overnight.
Severe & Flooding Outlook
No severe weather is expected tonight. Sunday brings a broader shower and possible thunderstorm threat as a warm front lifts through in the morning, followed by a cold front pushing showers through in the afternoon and evening. NWS Baltimore/Washington notes any thunderstorms Sunday are more likely well south/west of our area, with severe weather unlikely here. Locally heavy downpours are possible given precipitable water values running high, but organized flooding threat is currently low.
Winds & Bay/Marine
Winds stay light to moderate overnight, generally southeast at 5–13 mph, strongest right along the coast at Ocean City. On the Chesapeake Bay, a Small Craft Advisory remains up until 1 AM as winds flirt with advisory criteria — mariners should use caution through Monday night, with a more definite windy trend building by midweek as a coastal low strengthens offshore.

Looking Ahead
Sunday: Warm and more humid statewide with highs mostly in the low-to-mid 80s inland (83–85° across central Maryland, Hagerstown, and Cumberland) and upper 70s to near 80° on the Shore and coast. Morning showers push into western Maryland at daybreak and track southeast through the day, with a second round of afternoon showers possible along a frontal boundary — a few rumbles of thunder can’t be ruled out, mainly west and south of our area. Showers linger into Sunday evening before tapering off or sliding south late at night.
Monday: A noticeable cooling trend arrives behind the front — highs fall into the 60s in the mountains and low-to-mid 70s elsewhere, with lingering shower chances continuing into Tuesday, especially west of the Blue Ridge. Breezier conditions build toward Wednesday and Thursday as a coastal low strengthens offshore, raising both wind and coastal flooding concerns along the Bay later in the week.
