Thursday 6/25 Maryland Forecast: Dry Morning Commute, Warmer Day, Late Storm Chance West/North

Maryland gets a fairly calm start for the Thursday morning commute, with most of the state staying dry from 7–9 AM. Roads should generally be in good shape weather-wise, with no widespread rain or storm issues expected during the morning drive. Temperatures will start comfortable, mainly in the 60s, with some cooler upper 50s possible in the mountains and low 70s closer to the Bay and urban areas.

For the I-95 corridor, Baltimore metro, D.C. suburbs, central Maryland, and much of southern Maryland, the morning commute looks quiet with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Winds will be light early, then gradually turn more southerly as the day goes on. Visibility should be fine, and the morning does not look like a weather-impact commute.

Across western Maryland, including Allegany, Washington, Garrett, and nearby mountain areas, the morning also starts mainly dry. The best chance for showers or storms does not arrive until later in the day, especially toward the afternoon and evening. Morning temperatures will be cooler here, with many spots starting in the upper 50s to lower 60s before warming quickly.

The Eastern Shore also looks good for the morning commute. Most areas should begin dry, with temperatures in the 60s. Coastal areas, including Ocean City, stay a little cooler during the day compared to inland Maryland thanks to the ocean influence.

By the afternoon, Thursday turns warmer across Maryland. Highs should reach the upper 80s near Baltimore, central Maryland, and parts of the I-95 corridor, with lower to mid 80s closer to the immediate coast and beaches. Western Maryland will vary more by elevation, with the lower valleys warming into the 80s while the higher terrain stays cooler.

Humidity will begin creeping back up, but this does not look like an extreme heat day. It will feel more like a warmer late-June day rather than a dangerous heat setup. The next bigger push of hotter, more humid air looks more likely later in the forecast period.

The main thing to watch will be a late-day and evening shower or thunderstorm chance, especially across western and northern Maryland. Most of the daytime hours should be usable, but a few showers or storms may try to develop later Thursday, especially closer to the mountains, northern Maryland, and areas nearer the approaching front. The severe weather risk looks low overall, but a stronger storm cannot be ruled out late, mainly with gusty winds and brief heavy rain.

For central Maryland, southern Maryland, and much of the Eastern Shore, Thursday’s daytime forecast leans mostly dry. Rain chances increase more meaningfully later Friday into the weekend as the front gets closer and the pattern turns more unsettled.

Winds will also pick up during the afternoon, especially near the Chesapeake Bay and tidal waters. Boaters should pay close attention, as Small Craft Advisories are in effect for portions of the Chesapeake Bay and tidal Potomac Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. On land, expect a noticeable southerly breeze at times, especially near the Bay.

Bottom line: Thursday starts quiet, dry, and commute-friendly across Maryland. The day becomes warmer with increasing humidity, but most areas should get through much of the day without major weather issues. The best chance for storms waits until later in the day and evening, mainly west and north.
