Maryland gets a break from the more active weather today as slightly cooler and less humid air settles across much of the state. Most communities can expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds, seasonable temperatures, and several hours of dry weather.
An isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm remains possible, mainly across Western Maryland and the higher terrain. However, widespread storms, prolonged rain, and an all-day washout are not expected. Conditions should be noticeably more comfortable across Central Maryland, Southern Maryland, and the Eastern Shore compared with the recent stretch of oppressive humidity. Current forecasts place most inland highs in the lower to middle 80s, with cooler conditions in the mountains and along the Atlantic coast.

An isolated shower or thunderstorm cannot be completely ruled out, especially near the western shore and northern waters. Any thunderstorm can produce dangerous lightning and a sudden increase in wind, even when overall storm coverage is low. The latest NWS Baltimore/Washington guidance indicates that hazardous marine conditions would mainly be tied to isolated convection rather than a widespread wind event.

The evening should be comfortable and mainly dry across Maryland.
Any isolated shower over Western Maryland should weaken around or shortly after sunset. Elsewhere, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures falling from the upper 70s into the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Lower humidity will make the evening more favorable for outdoor dining, walks, sporting events, and other plans.
Travel Outlook
Morning travel should be favorable aside from isolated patches of fog or damp pavement.
During the afternoon, no widespread weather-related travel disruptions are expected. A brief downpour could temporarily reduce visibility in Western Maryland if an isolated storm develops.
Evening travel should remain mainly dry statewide.
Bottom Line
Sunday will be one of the more comfortable days of the weekend across Maryland.
Most communities will see a mixture of sunshine and clouds, highs in the lower to middle 80s, and lower humidity.
