Maryland Monday, July 13, 2026 Afternoon & Evening Forecast

Good afternoon, Maryland!

Heat and humidity continue to build across the state this afternoon as a typical summer weather pattern settles over the region. While many communities remain dry right now, conditions are becoming increasingly favorable for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop through the remainder of the afternoon and into the evening.

Not everyone will receive rain, but any storm that develops could produce torrential downpours, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and localized flooding. If you’re heading outdoors later today, keep an eye on the radar and have a backup plan ready.

This Afternoon

Temperatures continue climbing into the upper 80s to near 90° across much of Maryland, with humidity making it feel well into the 90s in many locations.

Western Maryland

Garrett County remains the coolest part of the state with temperatures around 80°. Allegany and Washington counties are warming through the lower and middle 80s, with thunderstorms beginning to develop over the mountains.

North-Central Maryland

Frederick, Carroll, Baltimore, Harford, and Cecil counties are reaching the middle and upper 80s under a mix of sunshine and clouds. Storm chances increase through the late afternoon.

Baltimore Metro

Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard County, and Anne Arundel County are seeing temperatures approach 90° with increasing humidity. While much of the afternoon remains dry, scattered thunderstorms may develop before sunset.

Washington Metro & Central Maryland

Montgomery and Prince George’s counties continue warming into the upper 80s. Heat and humidity are making it feel even warmer, with scattered thunderstorms becoming more likely later this afternoon.

Southern Maryland

Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s counties are among the warmest locations in Maryland today, with highs near 90°. Storms remain possible during the late afternoon and early evening.

Upper Eastern Shore

Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Caroline, and Talbot counties are warming into the middle and upper 80s with increasing clouds through the afternoon.

Lower Eastern Shore

Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset, and Worcester counties are reaching the upper 80s inland, while Ocean City and Assateague remain in the lower 80s thanks to the Atlantic breeze.

This Evening

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more widespread through the evening before gradually weakening later tonight.

Any stronger storm may produce:

  • ⛈️ Torrential rainfall
  • ⚡ Frequent lightning
  • 💨 Wind gusts between 40–50 mph
  • 🌊 Localized flooding of poor-drainage areas
  • 🚗 Reduced visibility for evening travel

Not every neighborhood will see rain, but anyone with outdoor plans should stay weather-aware.

Bottom Line

The remainder of today will be warm, humid, and increasingly unsettled. Most communities will stay dry for several more hours, but scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon and continue into the evening.

If you’re heading outside after work or this evening, be prepared to head indoors quickly if storms approach.
