Good morning, Maryland. NWS Baltimore/Washington (4:57 AM update) and NWS Wakefield (3:17 AM update) are both singing the same tune this week: quiet, mild, and utterly unremarkable in the best possible way. High pressure slides offshore today, winds swing out of the south, and temperatures climb nicely into the 70s across most of the state after a crisp, patchy-fog start. The only thing on the radar worth watching is Tropical Storm Isaias, newly named overnight, which could bring increasing rain chances late this weekend into early next week — but that’s days away, and plenty can still change.
Timing: Today’s Hour-by-Hour
There’s genuinely no inclement weather to time out today. Here’s the shape of the day instead:
- Early morning (6-9 AM): Patchy fog possible in valleys and low-lying spots, especially west of the Blue Ridge and across the Piedmont. Clear skies otherwise, with a cool, calm start.
- Mid-morning into afternoon (9 AM-4 PM): Fog burns off, sun takes over completely. Southerly winds pick up a touch as high pressure exits offshore. Temperatures climb steadily into the 70s for most of the state.
- Evening (4-8 PM): Sunny skies hold, light south winds continue, comfortable temperatures persist into the dinner hour.
- Overnight: Mostly clear to clear skies, light southerly flow, temperatures settling into the 50s for most of central and eastern Maryland, cooler in the mountains.
Region by Region
Western Maryland
Garrett County (Deep Creek / Oakland): High around 67° — upper 60s — under patchy early fog then sunshine. Light southwest wind 5-9 mph. Overnight low near 51°. A classic high-country October day; lake effect scenery, zero weather drama.
Allegany County (Cumberland): High near 76° — mid 70s — sunny after morning fog clears. Light winds. Overnight low around 55°. Good day for a Rocky Gap drive or a C&O Canal stroll.
Northern & Central Maryland
Washington County (Hagerstown): High near 73° under sunny skies, light south wind 3-8 mph. Overnight low around 52°.
Frederick County: High near 73°, sunny, light south wind. Overnight low near 53°.
Carroll County: Sharing Frederick’s gridpoint — high near 73°, sunny, overnight low near 53°. Farmers market weather, no complaints.
Baltimore Metro
Baltimore City & County: High near 72° — low-to-mid 70s — sunny with light southwest wind 2-9 mph. Overnight low around 51°, mostly clear.
Harford County: Tracking the Baltimore gridpoint closely — sunny, around 72°, dropping to near 51° overnight.
Howard County: Same story — sunny, low-to-mid 70s, overnight near 51-53°.
Anne Arundel County: High near 71-72°, sunny with a light sea breeze influence off the Bay, overnight near 54-55°. A beautiful day on the water if you’ve got the time.
DC Suburbs
Montgomery County (Silver Spring): High near 71°, sunny, light south wind 3-9 mph. Overnight low around 54°.
Prince George’s County: Essentially the same — around 71°, sunny, overnight near 54°, clear skies.
Southern Maryland
Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s Counties: High near 69° — upper 60s to near 70° — sunny with light south winds. Overnight low around 55°, clear. A comfortable, low-humidity day along the Patuxent and Potomac.
Upper Eastern Shore
Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, and Caroline Counties: High near 67° — mid-to-upper 60s — sunny, light south wind 5-10 mph. Overnight low near 57°, mostly clear. A touch cooler than the mainland thanks to Bay influence, but still a lovely day for the Eastern Shore back roads.
Lower Eastern Shore
Dorchester, Wicomico, and Somerset Counties: High near 71° — low 70s — sunny with light south wind. Overnight low around 54°, clear.
Ocean City & the Coast
Worcester County: High near 68° — upper 60s — sunny, winds southwest 2-13 mph. Overnight low near 59° with clear skies.
Beaches: Surf height 1-2 feet, rip current risk low, water temperature around 70°, UV index moderate. Tides at the Ocean City Fishing Pier: low at 11:35 AM, high at 5:53 PM. A near-perfect beach day if you’re chasing one more round of October sun.
Active Hazards
None. There are no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect anywhere in Maryland at this time, per NWS Baltimore/Washington’s Hazardous Weather Outlook. Enjoy the clean slate — it won’t come around often once the active season fully winds down.
Severe & Flooding
No severe weather or flooding concerns today, tomorrow, or really through the end of the week. The one item worth bookmarking: Tropical Storm Isaias, which NHC currently tracks toward the Tennessee/Ohio Valleys this weekend. There’s real uncertainty in both track and forward speed, but moisture from the Gulf and Atlantic could get pulled north into the Mid-Atlantic regardless of the storm’s exact path. Rain becomes increasingly likely by Sunday, possibly extending into Monday if the remnant low drifts east. Confidence in impacts here is still low — this is a
