Good evening, Maryland. Sunday’s cold front is off the coast and drier air is settling in behind it, so tonight is about as clean as an August night gets — per NWS Baltimore/Washington (issued 3:12 PM) and NWS Mount Holly (2:25 PM), any lingering shower or rumble east of the Blue Ridge fades with the sunset, and dew points are dropping into the 50s and low 60s. Translation: open the windows, this one’s a keeper.
Tonight’s Timeline
- 6-8 PM: A stray shower or weak rumble is still conditionally possible across central Maryland (Frederick/Carroll into the Baltimore corridor and DC suburbs) as the last of the daytime heating fades — low-end, short-lived, and not a widespread concern.
- 8-10 PM: Any leftover convection dissipates quickly with loss of daytime heat. Skies clear out west to east.
- 10 PM-6 AM: Dry, clearing to mostly clear across the entire state. Winds go light and westerly, then northwesterly overnight. Comfortable, low-humidity sleeping weather essentially everywhere.
Region by Region
Western Maryland — Garrett & Allegany: Garrett (Deep Creek/Oakland) drops to around 52° — upper 40s to low 50s — under partly cloudy skies with a slight (19%) chance of a passing shower or rumble early tonight, west winds light. Allegany (Cumberland) settles near 57°, mostly clear, winds light out of the west. Jacket weather up on the Deep Creek shoreline tonight.
Northern & Central — Washington, Frederick, Carroll: Hagerstown cools to around 58° under mostly clear skies, a lingering 12% chance of a stray shower early evening. Frederick and Carroll dip to near 59°, mostly clear by late evening, with that same slight (13%) shower chance fading fast after dark. Light, variable winds under 10 mph area-wide.
Baltimore Metro — City, County, Harford, Howard, Anne Arundel: Lows around 63° — low-to-mid 60s — with a slight (15%) chance of a shower or rumble in the first couple hours of the night before clearing. Light west winds. A genuinely pleasant Sunday night for a walk around the harbor or out on the porch in the county.
DC Suburbs — Montgomery & Prince George’s: Silver Spring-area lows near 61°, same slight (15%) early shower chance tapering to mostly clear skies by mid-evening. Light westerly winds. Comfortable, low-humidity night close in to the District.
Southern Maryland — Charles, Calvert, St. Mary’s: Prince Frederick-area lows around 62°, mostly clear, with only an 11% shower chance that should stay south and east of concern. Light west winds. A quiet, mild night on the Patuxent and Potomac shorelines.
Upper Eastern Shore — Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Caroline: Easton-area lows near 64°, mostly clear, with a 13% chance of an isolated shower early on that should be brief if it happens at all. Light northwest winds. Nice night to leave the marina slip open and just listen to the water.
Lower Eastern Shore — Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset: Salisbury-area lows around 64°, mostly clear skies, precip essentially a non-issue at 2%. Light southwest winds. About as tranquil as a late-August night gets down there.
Ocean City & the Coast — Worcester: Lows near 68° tonight along the boardwalk, mostly clear, winds light out of the west. Surf running around 2 feet Monday with a low rip current risk and water temps in the mid 70s — about as benign as the surf zone forecast gets. Low tide at the Ocean City Fishing Pier is 11:21 AM Monday, high tide 5:57 PM. If you’re heading down for a sunrise walk, conditions look great.
Active Hazards
None. There are no watches, warnings, or advisories in effect for any part of Maryland tonight, on land or on the water. NWS Baltimore/Washington’s Hazardous Weather Outlook (4:37 PM) explicitly notes: “No hazardous weather is expected at this time.” Enjoy the break.
Severe & Flooding
Severe threat is essentially nil tonight — any residual shower or storm from this afternoon’s marginal setup (mainly east of the Blue Ridge, with a conditional small-hail risk given cooler mid-level profiles) dissipates with the loss of daytime heating well before sunset. No flooding concerns; Annapolis may brush Action Stage around Monday’s high tide per LWX, but no tidal flooding is expected.
Humidity, Winds & the Bay
Dew points have crashed into the 50s and low 60s behind today’s front — the muggy stretch is officially over, for now. Winds tonight run light and westerly (generally under 10 mph), shifting northwest by early Monday as high pressure builds in from the Ohio Valley. On the water, west-to-northwest winds hold through Tuesday with only a few sporadic gusts flirting with low-end Small Craft Advisory levels this afternoon — nothing sustained tonight. Bay conditions should be calm and comfortable for any evening boaters.

Monday: A gorgeous, dry, low-humidity day statewide as high pressure builds in — highs upper 70s in the mountains to mid-80s in Baltimore, Southern Maryland, and the Shore, with sunny skies and light winds nearly everywhere. Tuesday: More of the same, maybe a touch warmer still (mid-80s Baltimore corridor, low 80s Shore), sunny and dry. The pattern holds through Wednesday before humidity and thunderstorm chances build back in by Thursday as a cold front approaches — that’s when the
