Nor’easter lingers — showers, gusty winds & tidal flooding statewide

Good morning. That Nor’easter parked off New Jersey isn’t quite done with us yet. NWS Baltimore/Washington (4:11 AM update) and NWS Mount Holly both have this system drifting back toward the Jersey coast today before finally pulling away Monday, and Maryland gets another round of showers, gusty northwest winds, and lingering tidal flooding out of the deal. NWS Wakefield notes lighter impacts than the last few days, but the Eastern Shore and the Bay are still very much in it. The good news: this wraps up tonight into Monday, and a genuinely nice, warm midweek is on the way.

Today’s Timeline

• Early morning (now–9 AM): Showers already expanding westward off the Bay; winds still relatively light but starting to increase.
• Mid-morning through afternoon (9 AM–5 PM): Wind gusts ramp up into the 25–35 mph range areawide as the pressure gradient tightens. Rain showers spread west across central Maryland, the Baltimore metro, and the Shore — steadiest rain near the Bay and northeast Maryland, where an extra half inch to an inch is possible. Far western Maryland may stay mostly dry thanks to some downsloping.
• Evening (5–9 PM): Winds begin to relax as the low starts weakening near the Delaware Bay. Showers linger, especially east.
• Overnight: Rain chances decrease but patchy light rain or drizzle can persist, especially Baltimore metro eastward. High tide cycles tonight bring another round of tidal flooding, though levels should trend lower than recent days.

Western Maryland

Garrett County (Deep Creek/Oakland): High around 60°, low-to-mid 50s tonight (52°). Mostly cloudy with just a slight chance of rain showers (23% today, 22% tonight) — this area sits on the drier, downsloping side of the storm. Winds northwest 5–14 mph. Grab a jacket for the lake, but you likely won’t need the umbrella much.

Allegany County (Cumberland): High near 68°, low around 57° tonight. Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers (35% today, 32% tonight), winds northwest gusting into the mid-teens. A damp day but not a washout.

Northern & Central Maryland

Washington County (Hagerstown): High near 65°, low around 58°. Rain showers likely (66% today), continuing as a chance overnight (53%). Winds northwest 12–17 mph with gusts higher — keep a hand on the hat.

Frederick County: High near 64°, low around 59°. This is one of the wetter spots on the map today — rain showers, 76% chance, tapering to a 50% chance overnight. Winds northwest 12–17 mph.

Carroll County: Sharing Frederick’s gridpoint — high near 64°, low around 59°, same soggy 76% rain chance today easing to 50% tonight. Gusty northwest winds continue through the afternoon.

Baltimore Metro

Baltimore City & County: High near 65°, dropping to around 59° tonight. This is the wettest gridpoint in our whole coverage area today — 89% chance of rain showers, with winds northwest 13–20 mph gusting well above that. Have the rain jacket ready if you’re headed out for church or errands.

Harford County: Similar story to Baltimore — mid 60s today, upper 50s tonight, high rain chances, and gusty northwest winds. Southeast Harford falls under today’s Hazardous Weather Outlook zone for the gusty wind/tidal concerns too.

Howard County: High near 65°, tracking with the Baltimore corridor. Expect rain on and off through the day with breezy conditions.

Anne Arundel County: High near 65°, low around 59° tonight. Rain likely, winds gusty out of the northwest. This county also carries both a Coastal Flood Watch (moderate) and a Coastal Flood Advisory (minor) — waterfront spots from Annapolis to Pasadena should expect standing water near high tide.

DC Suburbs

Montgomery County: High near 63°, low around 58° tonight. Rain showers likely (67%) with gusty northwest winds 12–18 mph — one of the cooler, cloudier spots on the map today.

Prince George’s County: Sharing the same gridpoint as Montgomery — mid 60s today under rain showers likely, upper 50s overnight.

Southern Maryland

Charles County: High near 65°, low around 58°. Rain showers likely, 70% chance, winds northwest 12–17 mph. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect here for minor tidal flooding along the Potomac.

Calvert County: Same gridpoint numbers — mid 60s, rain likely, breezy. A Coastal Flood Advisory covers minor flooding along the Bay shoreline through today’s tide cycles.

St. Mary’s County: High near 65°, rain likely. Also under a Coastal Flood Advisory for minor tidal flooding — low-lying roads near the water in Solomons, Piney Point, and similar spots may see some water this morning’s high tide.

Upper Eastern Shore

Cecil County: This is ground zero for the heaviest rain today — NWS Baltimore specifically flags northeastern Maryland for up to an additional inch. Expect rain showers, gusty northwest winds, highs near the mid 60s.

Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot & Caroline Counties: All tracking the Easton gridpoint — high near 65°, low around 59° tonight. Rain showers today (83% chance), tapering to a 27% chance overnight as winds ease from northwest 15 mph. This whole stretch is also draped across today’s Hazardous Weather Outlook for the tidal waterways (Chester, Eastern Bay, Choptank).

Lower Eastern Shore

Dorchester, Wicomico & Somerset Counties: High near 63°, low around 60° tonight. Rain showers likely today (69%), easing to a slight chance tonight (23%) as winds shift west 8–16 mph. This trio is under a Coastal Flood Warning for severe tidal flooding — the most serious flood alert on today’s map. Low-lying roads around Cambridge, the Nanticoke, and the Wicomico/Somerset waterfronts should be treated with real caution; this isn’t nuisance flooding, it’s the real deal through today’s tide cycle.

Ocean City & the Coast

Worcester County: High near 63° in town, with rain showers likely (82% chance) and west winds around 18 mph — breezy enough to feel raw despite the calendar. Inland Worcester carries a Coastal Flood Advisory for minor flooding as well.

Beaches: A Beach Hazards Statement and High Rip Current Risk are both in effect through this evening. Surf runs 2 to 5 feet with dangerous shore-break — NWS Wakefield specifically warns of shore-break of 4 feet or greater capable of causing neck and spinal injuries, so this is not a
